PRESIDENT'S REPORT

Hello Everyone,
I'm Jack Kamann, newly elected President of NYSAHI. I will be serving out Greg Harwood's term due to his serious health issues.

I graduated from Romulus Central School in 1971. Upon graduation I went into Drafting for 4 years before I realized I wanted to work outdoors. I worked in the home construction business from 1975 to 1977. In 1977, I moved to Rochester and stayed in the construction business until 1979. In 1979 a friend who worked for UPS convinced me that's where I should work. From 1979 to 1981 I worked for UPS. In 1981 a whole bunch of friends convinced me that Eastman Kodak Company was the best place to work. From 1981 until my retirement in 2007 I worked for Kodak. I started out as a production worker in the Clinical Division, which is now owned by Johnson and Johnson. I entered Kodak's Apprenticeship Program for Automation & Electrical Equipment Mechanic. The program was cancelled in 1986, so I went back to production, working in the Roll Coating Division. I worked my way into a leadership role starting with Kodak's leadership school and training. I continued to work my way through the different ladders of leadership.

In 1995, I was the Production Coordinator for the building of 307 Machine, a $275 million dollar project that makes print film. In 2004, I was the Production Coordinator for a $26 million dollar project to upgrade 304 Machine to make motion picture film.

Two years before I retired, I realized that Kodak was struggling and knew that I needed to protect my family if something happened. So, in 2006 I started looking into the Home Inspection Business. In 2006, Guardian Home Inspections Inc. was formed. Even though I entered the business when real estate was down. Guardian has been successful so far.

I joined the local chapter of ASHI in Rochester. I'm now on the Board of Directors as the chapter's Secretary. I joined the national ASHI within 2 months, knowing that ASHI was the organization I wanted to belong to. I have attended their Leadership Seminars for 2 years in Chicago. I was appointed to the Board of NYSAHI by the ASHI Chapter in Rochester in 2006, elected Vice President of NYASHI in 2007 and due to Gregg's serious health issues, was elected President of NYSAHI at the annual meeting on November 19, 2008.

In closing, I will tell you that I am a fighter and will fight for the right thing of all the Home Inspectors in New York State. I will serve to the best of my ability to promote and protect the interests of the Home Inspectors of New York State.
Thanks for your support,
Jack Kamann
